Type 2 burn ban starts July 15

July 14, 2021

Due to dry weather conditions ahead and low fuel moisture levels, the Island County Sheriff’s Office has issued a Type 2 burn ban prohibiting all outdoor burning.

The burn ban will go into effect at 4 p.m. Thursday, July 15, and continue until further notice.

Enclosed outdoor cooking appliances such as gas or charcoal grills or pellet smokers can be used during the Type 2 burn ban.

The danger of outdoor fires is very high. Please use extreme caution with any ignition source. Only use grills or smokers on nonflammable surfaces, and ensure any discarded charcoal or ash is doused with water and kept in a metal container, away from combustible materials.

Call 911 to report violations of the burn ban.
