The Island County Sheriff’s Office issued a Type 2 burn ban beginning at 7 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2026. The Type 2 ban prohibits all outdoor burning in unincorporated Island County.
The danger of outdoor fires is extreme. On Aug. 1, the Governor issued a statewide burn ban and declared a statewide wildfire emergency.
During a Type 2 Burn Ban, you CANNOT do the following:
- Use propane-fueled firepits
- Have campfires
- Burn any natural debris
You can use self-contained camp stoves, and barbecue grills with propane or briquettes
The Island County Sheriff’s Office previously issued a Type 1 burn ban that began at 7 a.m. Wednesday, July 1, 2026.
Call 911 to report burn ban violations to the Island County Sheriff’s Office.
