Every current part-time firefighter gets an interview for full-time, career positions with the department. Many of Camano Fire’s newest hires started out working part time with the department.
As a part-time firefighter, you’ll have a predictable but flexible schedule, assigned to either the first or second day of a regular crew shift. Part-time firefighters get regular training opportunities with the department and the chance to learn specialty skills like marine or rope rescue.
Minimum qualifications include IFSAC Firefighter 1 Certification, including Hazardous Materials Operations, and Emergency Medical Technician Basic (EMT-B).
Applications are accepted until 5 p.m. Friday, June 5, 2026. Top candidates will be invited to interview on June 15. Top candidates will also be placed on the eligibility list, which the department may use for up to one year..
