Every year during the second full week of April, we take a moment to honor our public safety telecommunications professionals – AKA our public safety dispatchers. They’re the voice you hear when you call 911 and their dedicated service can often go unnoticed. That’s why this week is so important.
The weeklong National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week celebration began in 1981 as a way to recognize everyone behind the scenes at 911.
